One Sunday morning earlier this month, I got a call from my model friend Ivy. It went a little like this.
Me: “… hello?”
Ivy: “Hey! Are you at your apartment?”
Me: “… yeah.”
Ivy: “Okay I’m on my way to the shoot, do you need a ride?”
Me: “What shoot?”
Ivy: “The Rumors Boutique shoot. Are you going to take your car?”
Me: “Oh… uh… my car is covered in fire extinguisher and there’s blood all over the backseat. I can’t really see out of the windshield, so I think I need a ride.”
Ivy: “Yeah, you were pretty trashed last night. Don’t worry, they’ll have champagne and mimosas at the shoot.”
Because that’s how RUMORS does it. Fashion waits for no hangover.

Aside from their impeccable taste in AM potables, the RUMORS girls, Casey Longyear and Marshe Myche, have always been a pleasure to shoot for. Since opening the doors to their boutique in 2007, these girls have been single-handedly feeding the fashion hunger of Richmond’s youth with hand-picked consignment clothes and accessories. In addition to their store-front, they have launched an internationally successful online store that sells rare vintage items that you can’t even find at their boutique. On that particular morning, the shoot was to get some product photos for the store and some in-life shots for their lookbooks. Local photographer Nick Ghobashi handled the indoor studio for the product shots, while I roamed around with the models getting the in-life portraits. Here are some of my favorites from what I got.

Those specs.

Sacagewea’s a pretty talented make up artist. And I work with a lot of make up artists.

We had to lock the door because customers kept trying to sneak into the shop.

Pretty pretty.

Mean girls.

Who, me?

Killer kicks.
